What you can expect from us at The Big Swim
It can be daunting going to an event where you might not know many people, you might not know what to expect, where to go or when to do things. So we’ll be bringing our gazeebo, my team of lovely people who will be there to look after you, point you in the right direction, and provide a sensory break-out space for you to chill out in if it all gets a bit much.
We’ll have people who can enter the water with you if you feel nervous, and others who won’t be swimming so can look after your stuff so you can relax, who can be waiting for you when you get out to help you regulate and get warm.
In short, we are your sensory support station, and we’ll be on the beach at Brighton making sure that you’ve got everything you need to reduce the overwhelm.
You don’t need to be neurodivergent to come and say hello or ask for support. We are here for everyone. So come along and see us on the day for moral support, some sensory support, a kind welcome, a quiet space if you need it, and a sense of belonging.
We’ll be wearing pink deeley-boppers so you can find us easily!
